M L Gupta

M.L. Gupta was born in the old princely state of Karauli in Rajasthan in 1946 in pre-Independence India. Growing up in one of the greenest cities of Rajasthan, he was always enamored towards the written word and was a voracious reader.

He graduated in 1964 from the University of Rajasthan with a Degree in English Literature, Hindi Literature and Political Science. He earned his Master’s degree in English Literature in 1967 and further studied Law at the University School of Law at Jaipur. He worked as a college lecturer for 4 years before entering the civil service in the Government of India.

He retired in 2006 as Joint Secretary to the Government of India after having served the nation for more than 35 years in various ministries of the government of India including the sensitive ones like Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Industry. He is currently enjoying retirement with his wife and sons in New Delhi and is a very active political affairs analyst who writes on current and international affairs on his blog Vaaniyog (www.vaaniyog.com).
