Renate Witte

Renate Witte born 1940 in Babelsberg Germany grew up in the eastern part of Germany. She was critical of the communist system and flew later with her husband to West Germany. Because of the danger involved she had to leave her daughter with the grandparents. She lost her husband to an other woman, but found new love. Her new companion helped to get her daughter to the West and they found a new life in the USA by opening a German restaurant. Her daughter got married but she blamed her mother for leaving her with the grandparents. She cut off the contact and even took away the possibility to see the grandchildren. So when she wrote the book it was her way to tell them the story of her life.
