Drift Creek

I am a teacher, farmer, and writer, and write fiction, nonfiction, and poetry on a wide range of subjects. I have several published academic works, and have been writing poetry and fiction since college. Oregon Tsunami is my first published novel. Traveling and working internationally has been an important part of my life, and has given me wonderful opportunities to work on agricultural projects in several countries. For several years I lived and worked on farms in the Pacific Northwest, where I learned about the imminent dangers of a large earthquake and tsunami hitting the coast. I continue to do organic farming that includes commercial flowers, vegetables, and weaving using wool from sheep I've raised.

I also spent many years as a board member for a women's shelter; some of what I learned in that work informed the writing of the novel, "Oregon Tsunami." I love camping in the wilderness, and spend as much time in wild areas as I can. Writing about the families spending time in the Oregon Coast Range mountains for the novel gave me an opportunity to revisit some favorite wild camping spots in the Pacific Northwest. My next novel, which I have just begun, concerns a group of people in their early twenties from all over the world, who end up traveling together through some of the most scenic and dangerous wilderness areas in America.
