Thomas Dale Smith (1942- ) enlisted in the US Army in 1967 and served 27 years as an Infantry officer. Began career as a Private of Artillery and retired as a Colonel of Infantry.
Awards include the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal 3d OLC, the Air Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal 4th OLC. Badges include the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Master Parachutist Badge.
Entire career in light Infantry with 24th ID, 2d ID, MACV, 1st CAV, 101st AD, 25th ID, 82 AD, XVIII ABC and 3/325 ABCT. In special operations with JSOC and SOCCENT. Served on Airborne status for 17 years.
After retiring from the Army served for 18 years as a prosecutor for the state of Florida and as Special Assistant United States Attorney. As a trial attorney prosecuted all major felony offenses and specialized in RICO prosecution of criminal street gangs.
