Duncan Murray Kirk

Duncan Murray Kirk was educated in England and worked in the music and technology industries there and in Australia.

After ten years of corporate careers with CBS and Canon Australia the gene of adventure that runs in the men of his family caught up with him.

Duncan’s father, a “Black Watch” veteran crack shot, grand Prix Bugatti racer and yachtsman was born into the MacLeod Clan on a tea plantation in the exotic jungle of Sri Lanka. Stories of the tropics and Ceylon played on Duncan’s genetic inclinations and led him to travel extensively. Duncan first visited Bali in 1980, and the island became a catalyst for his creative endeavors.

He designed his Eco friendly clothing and accessories catalog in 1990 and produced for fashion names Monsoon, Jigsaw, Portmans and Esprit, Later he developed Meshglass™ a new type of Architectural stained-glass decor surfacing that combines traditional Balinese craftsmanship with digital design.

Duncan’s intent is to reconcile the natural and scientific worlds; his passion is aroused by sustainable design, integrity, tolerance and kindness.

He has witnessed Bali’s changes over 40 years and has written “Bali: Sustainable Visions” for Abbeville Press of New York and

“In the Spirit of Bali” for publisher Assouline and completed “The ROLLO Trilogy” and "The Wetiko Killers" in November 2016.

The Second edition of "Bali Sustainable Visions" from Abbeville Press is on sale at Amazon and out on July 6 2025.
