I was born in Milan in 1976 and was educated both in the British system (the Sir James Henderson School of Milan) and in the Italian state school system. I moved to Britain in 1999 and now live in the London Borough of Havering.

Relying on my knowledge of both English and Italian, I did a Master’s Degree in Public Service Interpreting at London Metropolitan University. The course I took gave me the opportunity to widen and deepen my interest in comparing and contrasting two so very different languages.

In 2011 I set up Passione Italiana to plan and deliver bilingual presentations for learners who are interested in all things Italian.

My bilingualism underpins my research and writings, which can go under three separate headings. The underlying rationale of one group is that grammar and language are made more memorable when presented in a clean-cut, visually impacting layout. Other writings draw on a contrastive approach to English and Italian and highlight some of the most common pitfalls learners may find hard to avoid. Last but not least, I am preparing a literacy handbook for native speakers of English struggling with the grammar and spelling of their own mother tongue.
