David E. Barber is a fantasy author, artist, and lifelong storyteller. Raised in the Midwest, he has spent most of his adult life in Colorado, a place he is proud to call home.
Trained as a commercial artist, David has worked in advertising for most of his career, but storytelling has been a part of his life since middle school, when he began writing poetry and short stories. He began studying writing through continuing education programs and writing workshops, including a week at the Taos School of Writing under novelist Norman Zollinger, with guest authors Stephen R. Donaldson, David Morrell, and Suzy McKee Charnas.
Initially David concentrated on short fiction, joined the Horror Writers Association, and sold his first short story. Later he began exploring an idea that would eventually become The Draakonor Chronicles. Could the characters and adventures created around a role-playing table become the foundation for a series of fantasy novels?
That idea led to The Fabled Beast of Elddon, a prequel novella he introduced to readers at Denver Comic Con. A Way with Magic, the first full-length novel in The Draakonor Chronicles, followed soon thereafter. Drawing on his love of fantasy, adventure, memorable characters, and old-fashioned storytelling, David continues to expand the world of Ninavar in which the Draakonor Chronicles is set, and is currently at work on the next novel in the series.
David lives in Colorado with his wife and their neurotic but loveable chocolate Lab, Copper.
