Geoff Dakin

Born in Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada in 1963, Geoff graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1987 with a degree in Physical Education and graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (Vancouver) in 1989.

Early in his career Geoff recognized that the vast majority of people who suffer with muscle and joint pain also have imbalances in their postures, muscles and movements. The assessment and elimination of these issues has become his passion.

A past president of the Massage Therapists Association of BC (MTA of BC), Geoff also spent a year with the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (1991-92), being one of the first massage therapists in the NHL to travel with his team.

A vocal advocate of a collaborative model of care, Geoff has been working closely with other healthcare specialists to maximize patient success in Canada, Mexico and the United States since 1989. Over the years he has come to develop a special respect for and working relationship with the NUCCA chiropractic community. This began because of empirical evidence with patients in the mid-nineties and has since been solidified due to a personal experience in 2014.

In his first book, The Body Mechanic's Handbook, Geoff encouraged you to become your own “body mechanic” and taught you how to do so. At the heart of his program is a simple, straightforward system of floor exercise (the Alignment First Protocol) intended to restore proper function to muscles and joints, and reorganize the body away from unfortunately common, painful and inefficient postures.

The second edition of The Body Mechanic's Handbook makes it even easier to solve your back pain problems at home. This is an essential tool to help you stay independent, mobile and free of pain medications and surgeries!

Geoff lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with his wife Claudia and son Jack. His daughter, Vanessa, is studying at the University of Victoria, Victoria, BC, Canada. In addition to writing and conducting research projects, Geoff maintains a private practice and teaches massage therapists his Alignment First Protocol.
