Sandra Ann Heath is the author of Unrest, A Coming-of-Age Story Beneath the Alborz Mountains, a novel set in Tehran, Iran during the late 1970s prior to the Iranian Revolution. It's about a military family unknowingly thrust into turbulence and chaos as a regime falls, a country changes, and ties to the west are irrevocably cut.
The novel is loosely based on Sandra Heath's own experiences and true events in Iran during the last half of 1978 when the fall of the Shah was imminent, the country was subject to martial law, and the family was expected to carry on a "normal" life as best they could while buildings burned down around them, gunfire blasted into the night, and armed guards rode the school bus with bayonet-studded machine guns. But throughout the family's tenure there, the American and Iranian people closest to Sandra's family fiercely protected them with love and affection. This is Sandra Ann Heath's homage to an unusual place and time, an adventure that matured the family beyond their years, and the mostly positive legacy of military life.
Sandra Heath holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a concentration in writing from SUNY. Her day job is in banking.
