Elizabeth Fraley

Liz Fraley has founded two companies, sits on the boards of three non-profits, and is constantly coming up with new ways to share knowledge in the technical communications and content industries. She works as a Single-Source/XML Architect/Programmer and Mentor.

As a consultant, she's a bit odd: She takes an apprentice to journeyman approach with her customers, holding their hands and enabling them to stand on their own two feet. She knows her customers want to do it themselves and that they just don't want to do it alone. She will often ask customers to reevaluate their processes and assumptions so they can avoid costly, expensive, customization procedures (which are frequently recommended by her competitors).

A long time Arbortext customer, she constantly looks for ways to make tribal knowledge...not so tribal. She presents regularly at conferences related to content, information architecture, and technical communication. She created two webinar series (the Arbortext Monster Garage and the TC Dojo), three YouTube Channels, and a Vimeo channel. She has an Arbortext Community Voices podcast, and runs their Meetup Group, LinkedIn Group, and Facebook group. She has a blog and is the founder of TC Camp, the only unconference for content creators, consumers, and the people who support them.

She has worked in high-tech and government sectors, at companies of all different sizes (from startups to huge enterprises). She advocates approaches that directly improve organizational efficiency, productivity, and interoperability.

She told the florist for her wedding to "make it pretty", and wouldn't you know it? That's the one thing people complimented the most. She has immense faith in other people even though she can be easily frustrated when someone doesn't try. If you ask her, she’ll say she’s a gardener who’s happiest when those around her are flourishing.
