Rosemary Gillan

Rosemary has always had a close relationship with books.

Her favorite childhood author, Enid Blyton, had Rosemary devouring tales of the Famous 5 and Secret 7, and longing for island adventures and eating baked beans and tuna out of cans. Thankfully she grew out of the latter part of that wish.

Books played another important role. Her dad was a stickler for correct posture, and one of her many fun-filled childhood activities included walking around the house with a stack of “Books of Knowledge” balanced on her head, ensuring a ramrod straight back, sometimes even while sleeping.

In 1989, Rosemary’s began her expat adventures with her (now ex) hotel manager husband, traversing 12 countries over 16 years and having two children along the way. Her tongue-in-cheek newsletters about her expat adventures received many requests to have them published and Rosemary has just completed the final draft of “Tales of a Hotel Life and Other Stories from Hell”.

Her first published work, “Yes, Me Too!” appeared in the anthology, "Once Upon An Expat"; soon after “My Turkish Delight” was published in “Knocked Up Abroad Again: Baby Bumps, Twists and Turns Around the Globe.” In October, 3 of her works appeared in Professional Migrant Women's anthology, "Undefeated". Rosemary's musings have appeared in various expatriate websites and in 2021 she re-entered the corporate arena with her copywriting business, Write Said Rose.
