Judy Bruns grew up an only child in a rural community in Ohio, but she had many cousins and neighborhood friends to play with after school and in the summer. During quiet times at home, though, she found friendship in the written word. She loved reading fairy tale books, comic books, then mysteries, and later, books of poems. She began to write poetry and stories, herself, as a past time. Her friendship with the written word only grew stronger as she grew older.
She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in 7-12 education, majoring in English, minoring in Speech; then earned a master's and became credentialed in elementary education, too. She has taught language arts and coached Power of the Pen teams in Ohio. Her articles have appeared in hometown and faith-based newspapers and in magazines. Now I'm a BIG Girl is her third picture book for children, with more picture books expected to be published soon. She is a wife, a mother, a grandma, a speaker, and an ardent volunteer for causes close to her heart.
