Jacqueline Colhoun was born and educated in Liverpool, UK. After being awarded two music studentships in Singing and Pianoforte, she completed a degree at the Royal Manchester College of Music, after which she attained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and a Diploma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
After a period in education (teaching and lecturing in Music, Drama and Modern Languages) she became freelance, performing solo broadcasts for BBC radio, and appearing as a guest artiste on stage. A mezzo-soprano, the styles of music she sings include Classical (Opera, Oratorio and Art songs); Pop; Jazz; Blues; Country; Music Hall; Latin American and Musical Theatre. She has acted as a vocal and dialect coach for performers of stage, screen and radio.
An additional career in writing includes the following novels, available on Amazon Kindle: THE SEVENTH MAGPIE (the first of The Magpie Series of detective novels featuring the humorous Swedish-American detective Max Berg); RIDE A BLACK STALLION (a surreal mystery thriller); CHANGES (a fantasy spanning four hundred years, constructed with tales in various genres, plus a back story) and THE VAMPIRE FRIENDLY COOKBOOK (a humorous cookery book with sassy, scurrilous pieces which segue into the recipes.) Other genres undertaken are sitcom, drama, articles, short stories, sketches and educational evaluations.
Also included in her creative output is a full length musical, HOUSE OF DRACUL (for which she wrote the book, lyrics and music), and a one-woman show, comprising humorous dialect sketches, songs and piano pieces, composed in various musical styles.
