David Evans Bailey

David Evans Bailey spent his early youth in Africa. His father and mother were atypical expats who freely mixed with the community at large, regardless of race, creed or colour. He gained a liberal political foundation from his father and a love of books and literature from his well-read family. He had a long career as an IT Professional from programmer to project manager culminating with working in the City of London for over sixteen years. Following a diversion from IT fueled by major changes in his personal life, he had a spell running his own building business and then spent some years as a secondary school teacher. David feels he was always searching for his real drive and inspiration and has also always had a healthy interest in the arts. A photographer from the age of eleven this became a lifelong passion. Combining this with his IT background he became fascinated in creating digital art pieces from his photographs. This inspired him to undertake a Master’s degree in Digital Media Art at the University of Brighton from which he graduated in 2014. He moved the Auckland with his second wife in 2015 and is currently researching a Doctorate investigating the creation of Art using immersive Virtual Reality at Auckland University of Technology. After many years of searching, David believes he has finally found his métier with an academic life of research and personal art practice.

David also writes short stories about Virtual Reality and his series Adventures in Virtual Reality aim to tell the story of the myriad of future possibilities that this technology will bring. David also recently undertook a commission to write a treatise on the virtual world Virternity, the book is available in kindle and paperback.
