Diana Burbano (she/ella), a Colombian immigrant, is a playwright, an Equity actor, and a teaching artist at South Coast Repertory and Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble. Honored by the Los Angeles Times as part of “La Vanguardia,” she is a resident artist at Center Theatre Group and The Latino Theatre Company.
Her plays include Ghosts of Bogotá, published and licensed through Concord Theatricals, Sapience, Fabulous Monsters, a Latinx punk-rock play featuring the music of FEA, Policarpa: Apocalypse Sur Amerikka, and Caliban’s Island. Her plays have been developed at the Center Theatre Group’s writers’ lab, The Geffen’s Writers Room, the Drama League, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival Black Swan Lab, and Orlando Shakes’ PlayFest, among others.
Her commissions include Center Theatre Group, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Livermore Shakespeare, and HERO Theatre. She is an elected member of the Dramatists Guild Council for Southern California and Chair of its AI Committee.
