George C. Davis

George C. Davis is a Professor in the Departments of Agriculture and Applied Economics and Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise at Virginia Tech. From growing up on a dairy-row crop farm, he obtained intimate knowledge of food production. From daily eating he has acquired experiential knowledge of food consumption. His nutrition colleagues keep him straight on the nutritional aspects of food consumption. His research has been published in a wide range of journals, such as American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Appetite, Economics and Philosophy, Endocrinology, Food Policy, Journal of Nutrition, Review of Economics and Statistics, and Review of Economics of the Household among others. He is currently Co-editor for Review of Economics of the Household. He teaches Food and Nutrition Economics at Virginia Tech, mainly to nutrition majors. He has a theory that economics is actually not very hard and can be learned by anyone with a good sense of humor and willing to put forth a little effort. He tests this theory on a weekly basis at Virginia Tech. Most of his empirical observations confirm this theory, except for some out--liars :)
