Review Excerpt
"I'm very impressed with the author's writing voice, as well as learned insights such as 'I have nothing to teach you, only something to share.' That is terrific humility, situating the reader in a position of equality with the 'teacher' here, open and willing to learn from what may be a shared experience or an extension of one's own experience.
Very well done. I Just Looked Up immerses the reader in the book from the start. We are connected to the author. I loved the line 'We are miraculous creatures intended to know each other's souls,' which again elevates the story to a wisdom of higher energy, and it can be reassuring to the reader in a very fresh way to see himself or herself as the wonderfully worded 'miraculous creature.'
Sue is brave in her recounting of her experience, choosing her wording carefully yet without a sense of guardedness.
We are in the presence of an author who cares enough about us to word insights with care. There is a difference, and this author has a terrific instinct for it.
The stages of grief are inherent in her story, and we feel quite warmly that she is still in the walk of grief alongside us, taking from its spiral nature much insight that lights our way. No one who grieves is ever truly done, and this author shares with us some of the light on her walk.
We get nice glimpses back at her family, a beautiful pace with some moments of terrific phrasing. Sue Krupa has a talent for memorable phrases."
