Myra Mendible is Emeritus Professor of Literary and Cultural Studies at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL. She was co-founder of the English program at FGCU and has served as Chair of the Language and Literature Department and as Interim Director of the Judaic, Holocaust, and Human Rights Center at FGCU. Dr. Mendible has published widely in national and international peer-reviewed journals, is Editor of four essay collections: From Bananas to Buttocks: The Latina Body in Popular Film and Culture (University of Texas Press); Race 2008 (Brown Walker Press); American Shame: Stigma and the Body Politic (Indiana University Press); and American Fury: Essays on Politics and Culture (McFarland Press). She is also the author of a monograph, American War Stories: Veteran Writers and the Politics of Memoir (University of Massachusetts Press).
