Scott C. Scheidt, Ph.D, MSc, MBA, has more than 32 years of experience in business and military communities related to intelligence and cyber operations, currently serving as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves as of 2023 after returning from a 2019 retirement in the Army National Guard Cyber Mission Forces. Scott currently holds the position of Chief Security Officer in a managed security services firm and serves as an adjunct professor. He was most recently the Department Head of Cyber and Related Programs and Director of the Cybersecurity Workforce Education Center at Savannah Technical College, and prior served as the Executive Director of the Center for Applied Cyber Education at Georgia Southern University, where he also taught courses in Computer Concepts and Applications as well as Cyber Warfare.
Scott has been the senior course developer and manager for over 32 courses across 12 academic programs covering degrees and diplomas in the areas of Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Networking. The programs he has managed has trained graduates with the skills needed to be competent in the technical areas of computer terminology and concepts, security policy design and development, and cyber defense methodologies through coursework that includes Implementing Operating Systems Security, Network Defense and Countermeasures, Network Security, Computer Forensics, and Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing.
Scott holds a Ph.D. in Cybersecurity from Trident University. He has completed a Master of Science in Cybersecurity Technology degree through the University of Maryland Global Campus, an MBA with an emphasis in Logistics Management from Touro University International, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Georgia Southern University. His military training includes Command and General Staff College, CGSC Advanced Operations Course, the Joint C4I/Cyber Staff and Operations Course, Military Intelligence Advance Course, Signals Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Course, Port Operations and Security Manager Course through the Merchant Marine Academy; Army Cyber Operations Planner Course, Information Operations and Electronic Warfare Planner Course, and Army Space Cadre qualification which focused on integrating the use of enablement systems such as UAS and satellite capabilities to deliver cyberspace effects across the Electro-Magnetic Spectrum.
Scott's intelligence and cyber operations experience includes senior instructor and curriculum manager for threat doctrine operations US Forces Command; senior intelligence analyst/consultant and senior operations integrator for JIEDDO in Iraq; senior intelligence analyst for detainee vetting in Baghdad, Iraq, and combat tours in Iraq. His senior professional military experience includes Branch Chief for IT Services and Support for Join Forces Headquarters of the State of Georgia; Chief, Defensive Cyberspace Operations Element attached to the Cyber Protection Team of the Georgia Army National Guard; Commander, Georgia Garrison Training Center Command along with over 20 years of military service with duties related to all-source intelligence and cyber operation leadership.
