Julie Gardner, an Amherst Writers & Artists Affiliate and Life Legacies Facilitator, leads writing workshops and retreats in the Pacific Northwest. With degrees in early childhood education and counseling, she has contributed to early childhood, family and mental health education publications. Julie led a weekly writing group at Mary's Place, a day shelter in Seattle for women experincing homelessness, for many years. After her husband's cancer diagnosis and death, she became a more dedicated reader and student of poetry which has led her to write poems and essays on love, loss, grief and spirituality.
