Debra R. Sanchez is a bilingual author, editor, and translator. She has moved over thirty times.

Her bilingual picture book "And My Mother Cried/Y Mi Mamá Lloró" won The Author Zone TAZ Award for Best Children’s Book 2017. Her writing guide "Prompted, Prodded, Published" was awarded a TAZ Award in the business book category.

"Raw & Unfinished" poetry collection received a TAZ award in 2018.

In 2020 her illustrated bilingual book "Snow Pants for Isabella/Pantalones de Nieve para Isabella" won the TAZ award for best book for grades 3-8.

In 2021, her bilingual picture book "What's that Noise?/¿Qué ruido es?" and her writing advice book "Looks Matter: Beyond Judging the Cover” were TAZ finalists.

Her other writing has won awards in various genres, including children’s stories, poetry, fantasy, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Her plays and monologues have been produced and published. Other works have been published in literary magazines, newspapers, and anthologies.
