Peter Newman Tarbutton

Peter Newman Tarbutton was born in Columbus, Ohio, and later relocated with his family to the small town of Daingerfield in northeast Texas. It was while in high school that his senior English teacher encouraged him to write. After graduation he studied biology and chemistry taking both a Bachelor's and Master's degrees from East Texas State University (now East Texas A&M Univ). After working as a chemist for eight years, he returned to college to take a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Houston. He practiced that profession for thirty-three years before retiring to Brenham, Texas. He is married and has four children and nine grandchildren.
