Wang-Shick Ryu

Wang-Shick Ryu received his doctoral degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied SV40, a polyomavirus, under supervision of Dr. Janet Mertz. Then, he joined Dr. John Taylor's laboratory at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, as a postdoctoral fellow, where he studied hepatitis delta virus, which is a satellite virus of hepatitis B virus. He joined a faculty of Yonsei University in 1996, a prestigious university in Korea. For the past twenty years, he has taught 'virology' class both at undergraduate and graduate level. His book is essentially an outcome of his over twenty years teaching experience. In addition, he is an active research scientist working on hepatitis B virus (HBV), which is endemic in Korea. He published over 50 research articles related to HBV biology in well-respected journals such as Hepatology, PLoS Pathogens, and Journal of Virology. He organized "2016 International HBV Meeting", Sept. 21-24, 2016 in Seoul, Korea.
