Kaarina Brooks

Kaarina came to Canada as a child with her older sister and her parents. The family first settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As was typical of immigrant families, they moved around to wherever her father found work—from Winnipeg to Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay) and on to Longlac, in northern Ontario. They even went back to Finland in 1955, but returned to Canada after just eight months, retracing their steps back to Longlac and Port Arthur. After Kaarina was married, she and her husband settled in Toronto where they had two daughters.

Now a retired elementary teacher with four grandchildren, Kaarina lives with her husband in Southern Ontario. She enjoys writing, art and flowers. Her poems, short stories and articles have appeared in various publications and her books have been published by Scholastic Canada, Aspasia Books and Simply Read Books. Her art has found homes in Finland, USA and Canada.

Kaarina continues to write and always has several projects on the go.
