Dominic Hinde

Dominic Hinde is a writer, sociologist and journalist based at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. In his career he has lived in, taught in and reported from multiple countries across the world with a particular focus on Northern Europe and the impacts of climate change worldwide. Inspired by a desire to travel and bring alive the complexities of global life since he wrote his first pieces of foreign journalism in his teens, he has gone on to have a notable career for newspapers, television and radio over the past two decades as well as gaining his PhD from the University of Edinburgh and work in the field of media sociology. A fluent Swedish speaker, his well regarded first book on Sweden was listed for a number of awards and more recently he has returned with another hybrid academic and journalistic book, the autobiographical exploration of climate change Drifting North. He has also produced significant academic work for which he has been recognised, including a groundbreaking exploration of media, climate and the global situation, Journalism in the Anthropocene.
