In the early 80s, Joseph worked alongside singer Jimmy Somerville & musician Richard Coles on the award-winning TV documentary 'Framed Youth: Revolt of the Teenage Perverts'. After 'Framed Youth', Joseph spent the rest of the 80s dealing with depression/addiction and job-hopping. His many roles included stints with Soho porn baron Paul Raymond, working as a 'light lay' at a textile factory and innumerable bar jobs in gay bars.
Following his return to Liverpool in the 90s, he worked as a freelance journalist and was a regular contributor to The Big Issue in the North and various gay publications. Since 1995, his short fiction has appeared in literary journals and anthologies in the UK, Canada, Australia, Germany and the USA.
Joseph holds a degree in German from the Open University and an MA in Creative Writing from Lancaster University He lives in his native city of Liverpool, England.
