Nancy Musarra, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and forensic evaluator recognized for her extensive work with trauma survivors, first responders, and families facing the challenges of neurological differences and rare health conditions.
Dr. Musarra is the author of The New Normal: Seven Things to Know as You Care for and Love a Child with Special Needs, a book based on interviews with more than 500 caregivers. Their stories reveal the difficulties, hopes, and resilience. The book outlines seven essential principles that guide caregivers through what can be both an arduous and deeply rewarding journey.
Her most recent book, Cut Through: A Shortcut that Took Everything but Gave Back More, chronicles the story of Mark Kalina Jr., whose life was forever changed by a devastating accident. Through this powerful narrative, Dr. Musarra explores how trauma affects not just the survivor but also families and communities, and how resilience and hope can emerge from profound loss.
In addition to her writing, Dr. Musarra lectures nationally and internationally, offering workshops for first responders and parents of children with neurological differences. She is also the founder of KCNA2 Epilepsy, Inc., a rare epilepsy organization. Tune into her podcast KCNA2 and Other Rare Epilepsy to hear more.
Beyond her professional work, Dr. Musarra preserves family traditions through storytelling and cooking, which inspired her to author an Italian family cookbook: The Tedesco Story: Told Through Recipes and her family story titled The Tedesco Story: From the Beginning.
