Lourens Erasmus

Lourens Erasmus was born in Thabazimbi, South Africa, where he grew up on a farm. He fell in love with soccer at a very young age and dreamt of becoming a professional soccer player. The sport had an extremely positive effect on his character and in fact, it changed his whole outlook on life.

He matriculated in 1987. Though he remained involved in soccer, he realized that it was not easy to make a career out of the sport and he decided to pursue his other dream, that of becoming a detective. After school he joined the South African Police. Unfortunately he was soon forced to resign as he did not agree with the police's involvement in the political situation.

He ventured into the private security industry and obtained a diploma in security management. He later became a private investigator and spent 15 years in this field.

He currently works in the training and skills development industry as a facilitator, assessor and moderator. He never gave up on his passion for soccer though and over the years has been involved as a player, coach and administrator. He owns a Futsal club and academy and is involved with the development of young players. The football development is linked to life skills programmes for the youth and a portion of the proceeds from his book will go towards this kind of development.

Lourens lives with his wife and daughter in the Freestate and enjoys reading, writing, cooking and spending time with his family. His second book, also with a soccer theme and part of a series, will be published in due course.
