Alexei Nesteruk - born in 1957 in St Petersburg, Russia. By first education he is a theoretical physicist (graduated St Petersburg University in 1980 (MSc)). Holds PhD in Physics and Mathematics, DSc in Philosophy. He received education in philosophy and theology in Russia and UK; has been working at the University of Portsmouth (UK) for more than twenty years; teaching courses on Science and Theology in Moscow and St Petersburg. Participated in numerous projects in Science and Theology across Europe. Major interests: cosmology, anthropology, phenomenological philosophy and Patristic theology. His metaphysical credo, being a paraphrase from Gabriel Marcel, is that "The study of the genesis of universe through cosmological theory and the study of the genesis of human person in philosophy and theology are both one and the same problem or, one and the same mystery linked to the radical metaphysical fact of humanity’s existence". Being homeless, not-attuned and groundless in the universe, humanity has to believe in God in its search for a blissful foreign land, the search which drives humanity towards the reconciliation of its slavery to the nature with its longing for immortality.
