Charlie Pendergast (b.1950, Superior, Wisconsin) began a career in writing and publishing at the age of nineteen in Los Angeles, where he wrote feature articles for the in-flight magazines for Continental Airlines, Pacific Southwest Airlines, and Aloha Airlines. He was an associate editor of Motor Trend Magazine, while working for Petersen Publishing. His first book, Introduction to Organic Gardening, was published by Nash Publishing and went on to be released in three different formats. He was hired by John Wiley and Sons as production manager for Wiley/Hamilton in Santa Barbara, California, which published text books in business and economics. Subsequent to that, he moved to San Francisco where he was production manager for W.H. Freeman, the text book division of Scientific American. In 1999, he and his partner Kevin Connor established RiskPress Gallery and RiskPress Foundation which provides gallery space for emerging artists, and publishes books of poetry. His titles include A Commonplace of Poetry (2010) and his most recent book Gone Untreated (2015). He currently writes feature articles for Santa Barbara Family Life Magazine.
