Eugenio Magdalena

Eugenio was born in Ciaño, Langreo, Asturias, Spain, on 10/01/49.

Early on in his life (he was 8 years old at the time) he immigrated with his family - very poor, humble and uneducated - to Venezuela. In that country he grew up and followed studies.

In 1975 he got married to Isabel and they had a child, Eugenio, born in Caracas on 01/08/76.

In 1979 he graduated as an Economist in the Catholic University "Andrés Bello", the UCAB, in Caracas. That same year he obtained a scholarship from the Venezuelan Government and went to the U.K. to follow postgraduate Master studies.

After studying English for 6½ months in Manchester, England, in 1979, he then obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing at Strathclyde University, in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1981; and a Master in Business Administration, M.B.A,. at Cranfield University, School of Management, in Cranfield, Milton Keynes, England, in 1982, and returned to Venezuela.

In December 1985, he went to Spain and began to work (in 02/1986) at CIGNA, an American insurance multinational company, with which he developed a career of 17 years, in Madrid, Bogotá, Miami, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Miami again.

He then returned to Spain because Venezuela (his first choice) was under the Communist dictatorship of Chavez.

He opened a restaurant in Madrid in 2003 unsuccessfully and in 2005 started to work for ASSURANT, another USA's multinational insurance company and in January 2008, began working for Pan American Life Insurance Company, Palic, as Executive V.P. International Business, first in New Orleans, USA, and later in Panama. In this last country, he had a car accident in 2011 almost costing him his life, and from which he resulted hemiplegic, being since then confined to a wheelchair.
