Chip Williams

Chip Williams, MD is an author of speculative fiction. After attending a fine arts high school as a musician, he earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Arizona State University in music performance, and music theory and composition. He was then awarded a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, while mentoring as a classical solo artist with Frederick Hemke.

Returning to Arizona, Chip then taught music at the college level and performed as a studio and show musician on saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, bass flute, piccolo, oboe, and keyboards.

Chip graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 1986. After residency and fellowships, he became the Division Head of Neuroanesthesiology at the Medical College of Virginia (Virginia Commonwealth University) and led the Anesthesiology department at one of the largest Veteran’s Affairs hospitals in the country. He has published in numerous scientific journals and textbooks, and has lectured extensively in neuroscience and neuroanesthesiology.

Diversity has always been Chip’s nature, and he is an award-winning photographer, a very accomplished tennis player, and an avid student of twentieth-century history. After building and racing cars for many years, he turned to collecting and enjoying Porsche and Ferrari cars, and is a general aviation enthusiast who enjoys flying airplanes.

Chip and his loving wife, Karen, an obstetrician, live in Richmond, Virginia, and they have one adult son.
