Mario L. Hesse

Mario L. Hesse is a full, tenured professor at the St. Cloud State University (MN) in the Criminal Justice Studies Department. He earned his PhD in sociology from the South Dakota State University (SCSU), his MS in criminal justice from St. Cloud State University (SCSU) and his BA in criminology/sociology from the University of MN at Duluth (UMD). Mario has extensive experience working in the corrections field with adult community-based programs and juvenile detention and juvenile probation facilities.

Mario has published articles in ACJS Today, Corrections Today, Criminal Justice Review, Forensic Scholars Today, and the Journal of Gang Research. Currently, Mario is a review-editor for the Journal of Gang Research and an associate editor for Forensic Scholars Today. Mario is a frequent presenter at the National Gang Crime Research Center annual conference held in Chicago, IL.

Mario enjoys reading various fiction and non-fiction crime novels. One of his favorite authors is John Sanford (John Camp). His favorite television shows to this day are Lost, Star Trek and The Shield (each of which is no longer in production). He highly addicted to any cheesy Sci-Fi movie (e.g., Fortress and In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale), and he will stay up late to watch any zombie-related show. Finally, he is a dedicated fan of the Boston Celtics.
