About Crystal Hayse Edwards, also known as Che;

I was born on Long Island, New York, in 1980. At the age of 9, and after a brief stay overseas, my family and I moved to New Mexico. Also lovingly known as “The Land of Enchantment”, here in the High Desert, is where I have decided to make my home.

I’m the mother of two young children, and I own a small private-practice massage business, so my life is very busy. I attended the University of New Mexico, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology, I'm a certified Natural Therapeutic Specialist as well as a Licensed Massage Therapist, and I’m currently working on a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health counseling.

In the moments between the organized chaos, I do my best to use any spare time I can find to work on the artistic things that I enjoy. Painting, singing, dancing, creating music, crafting jewelry, and writing are all things that I am very passionate about, and I consider myself somewhat of an amateur art enthusiast. Since childhood I’ve always taken an interest in most all of the various arts, and that interest has only grown stronger with time. The things I write, paint, sing, and dance are really just my personal interpretations of what I see and feel. My greatest inspiration is experience. I especially enjoy performing at, as well as attending local poetry events in Albuquerque and surrounding areas.

This particular poetry book project started in 2005, when I compiled a collection of over 150 of my original poems into a monstrous manuscript. I spent a few years editing it, and a few more years ignoring it, and this year I decided enough was enough. I decided to break it down into individual chapbooks, and I spent almost the entire month of January polishing and formatting Part I. Enter; A Goddess Confined. This is the first piece of my poetic heart that I’m publicly sharing with the world, and I hope you enjoy it.
