Edwin Daniel Jacob

Dr. Edwin Daniel Jacob was born in 1982 and grew up in Bordentown, New Jersey, the hometown of Thomas Paine. He is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University. Dr. Jacob earned his Ph.D. in 2018 from the Division of Global Affairs at Rutgers University. He also holds a graduate certificate in Terrorism Analysis from the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland and was the recipient of a certificate in American Politics and Public Policy from the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University.

A robust interdisciplinary background in political theory, international relations, and history informs Dr. Jacob’s focus on American security and foreign policy. He has published various works in popular and scholastic forms. His unique collection on security, Rethinking Security in the Twenty-First Century, was published with Palgrave MacMillan in 2017. Dr. Jacob’s other works include articles with Peace Review and E-International Relations; book chapters with Open Court Publishing, Palgrave MacMillan, and Wiley-Blackwell; book reviews with New Political Science, Critical Studies on Terrorism, and Critical Sociology; and several contributions to online scholarly platforms, including France24 and Reader Supported News.

Dr. Jacob’s research on intervention and sovereignty, drone warfare and targeted killings, traditional and critical security studies, and a host of other pressing security matters has been presented at conferences, invited talks, and guest lectures.
