Brian Meyer is a plein air poet and painter in jazz. Known for creating on the spot at local concerts and clubs in his native San Diego. His words and art arise from these moments; a practice based on jazz improvisation, developing chops outside of any comfort zone, and always asking; does this swing?
A member of the San Diego Watercolor Society, where he displays his art, and a regular at monthly paint-outs for over 10 years. These are led by Lorri Lynch on the second Saturday of each month.
As Lorri always says, “If you don’t go, you don’t grow.”
His art is about the community, and you will find him out and about in San Diego working plein air at the beach, trying to “catch” some waves in a painting, in Hillcrest at a coffee shop sketching and writing, or up in the Laguna Mountains painting trees.
Brian is a US Army Veteran. He served in Desert Storm as a combat signaler for 16th Corps Support Group.
