Michelle Vann was reared in Arkansas City, KS, where she matriculated through the public school system. Michelle begin her post-high school education at Cowley County Community College. Michelle married William Vann in 1990. After marrying William Vann, she transferred to Butler County Community College, where she received an Associate of Arts in Education. She continued at Newman University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. During this time period, she and William were blessed with two children Brandon and Brianna, both of whom have graduated from college.
Upon graduation, Michelle commenced her career with the Wichita Public Schools, teaching various grade levels and serving in various roles for almost 20 years. Her tenure with the Wichita Public Schools provided her many opportunities to impact both probationary teachers and young people alike. While teaching Michelle was able to obtain her Masters in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in History. Michelle retired from USD-259 in 2015. Right after her retirement, Michelle obtained her Doctorate in Christian Counseling from Faith Bible College Kansas City, Mo with an emphasis on Education.
Michelle’s love for learning did not stop at the school doors. Michelle uses the skills she gained in the classroom in ministry. While being fulling employed, she also served with her husband in ministry for over 25 years. Her love for learning lead her to obtain her ministerial license from Victorious Life Bible College.
In addition to her professional pursuits and her ministerial achievements, Michelle and William, are the co-owners of BaM Group, LLC which is a business that serves the community through rental management as well as business consultation. Dr. Vann is also the CEO and Founder of Sistahs Can We Talk, a non-profit organization that equips women today for a better tomorrow, as well as, Vanntastic Solutions a for-profit enterprise that provides coaching services to women who are the empty nest stage of their lives. Michelle believes that every woman has a purpose and it just takes some people longer to find it. For this purpose, she authored two books, Help along the Journey and Stop the Merry-Go-Round I Want to Get Off, several journals and planners designed to guide women in their own spiritual journeys. Michelle also serves as an Educational Consultant with Kanas Strong, Adjunct Professor at Tabor College, and the Dual Credit Coordinator at Friends University.
While Michelle is very involved in her local church, she finds herself also involved in community endeavors. Presently she serves as the Assistant Secretary for the Greater Wichita Ministerial League, a member of the Samaritan Community of Partners for Wichita, on the Leadership Team for Excellent Toastmasters, Advisory Board of the Dunbar Theatre, and on the Advisory Committee for WeKan and Camp Destination Innovation. She serves as a mentor with Urban Neighborhood Young Life and Camp Destination Innovation.
Michelle also hosts a community radio show on KSUN radio 95.9 (intune app), which broadcasts every Saturday. The show called Spotlight on Business gives Michelle and opportunity to spotlight local minority-owned businesses within the Wichita community and share her love of entrepreneurship.
