Dr. Karen Crum has two decades of experience working with parents, children and families. Holding an MA in Counseling Psychology and a Dr.PH in Preventive Care, she works as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Redding, CA. For several years, she served as a leader and advocate for organizations which serve children and families with disabilities.
Karen has always loved to write, and her first poem (about mice and cheese) was published in first grade for the school newspaper. She continued writing for her high school newspaper, and of course, produced the obligatory scientific papers in college and graduate school. After 10 years of developing and leading programs for children with disabilities and their parents, Karen began writing again to encourage these families. She has written articles for Focus on the Family's Thriving Family magazine as well as blogging. Karen has received several awards for her work in public health and family advocacy, as well as book awards for Persevering Parent. She enjoys her therapy practice as well as speaking to groups of parents, professionals and to anyone who comes in contact with children and families.
Karen loves God, her husband of almost 40 years, and two grown children. She has enjoyed many years of meaningful work with the purpose of building a legacy of hope.
