Lynn Anderson

Gary Anderson, Lynn's brother, worked with their father, Lawrence Anderson to renovate the Watch Hill Carousel. The horses lived in the Anderson workshop each winter and became part of the family while they were cleaned, repaired, sanded, primed and painted. New saddles, harnesses and bridles made the little wooden horses feel proud and eager to go back to the carousel for the summer. While they lived in the barn workshop, Gary's children rode them, talked to them and played between their saw horse stands. Soon Lynn was paintingthe horses' portraits, and dreaming of stories about thelittle wooden horses of the Watch Hill Carousel. Most people don't know where the horses spend the winter, so the answer to that question was the beginning of this colorful book. Gary Anderson still cares for all of the carousel horses of the Watch Hill Carousel in Watch Hill, Rhode Island where children ride them each summer.
