Marc Remus

Marc Remus is an award-winning author of children's and young adult books, as well as a painter and illustrator. His works have received numerous literary awards in the United States and the United Kingdom and have been translated into many languages.

Remus completed his studies in the United States, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Illustration from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Over the years, he lived in Japan, Honduras, and Greece, and traveled to nearly eighty countries and hundreds of cities—experiences that continue to shape and inspire his artistic and literary work. His paintings have been featured on television and highlighted in numerous newspaper and magazine articles.

In the 1990s, Remus began developing the first ideas for his successful Magora series. Starting in 2000, he studied at the Institute of Children’s Literature, where he completed his training in 2004. His debut novel, Magora – The Gallery of Wonders, was published in 2016. It was followed by five more volumes, with the first book translated into German, Spanish, and Mandarin. A few years later, he published his first young adult novel, The Language Thieves.

In 2021, his richly illustrated children's book The Chocolate Clouds was released—a project he worked on for over three years. With more than 150 drawings, it stands out as an especially lovingly crafted children's book. It has since been translated into eleven languages and has received nine literary awards.

In 2024, he began a special collaboration with German author and editor Nadja Losbohm, resulting in Deadly Funny Poems & Short stories—an entertaining collection of humorous poems in German only, work Remus had written over many years.

At the same time, he launched another illustrated project: The Fluffmunches based on an idea he originally created in the early 2000s for his godchild.

Today, Marc Remus lives on the picturesque Greek island of Skiathos, where he lovingly cares for seven stray cats and a dog—and continues to work with boundless creativity on new stories to enchant readers with imagination, humor, and heart.
