Robert L. Brueck

Robert L. (Bob) Brueck was born in Boise, Idaho in 1935. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a MS degree in Applied Mathematics, minor in physics in 1962. He was a full-time Instructor in the department from 1959-62. While in college he was a member of the engineering honorary Tau Beta Pi and the physics honorary Sigma Pi Sigma, and the Sigma Chi social fraternity. While in graduate school he studied computer science for one summer at UCLA and conducted independent research another summer, both financially supported by the National Science Foundation. He then worked in applied science at Texas Instruments and the Southwest Center for Advanced Studies in Dallas for several years. He then founded the company that became MRI Systems Corporation and was subsequently acquired by Intel Corporation in 1979. After leaving Intel a year later and until his retirement from formal business relationships in 2006 he engaged in venture capital investing, technology company management mentoring, and as a member of the Board of Directors of four public companies and an active board member of over a dozen others. Throughout his adult life he has actively served in various ways with many non-profit organizations. He has been married to his wife Pat for 57 years, and they have three children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. After 30 years residing in Austin, TX, they now split residence between there and Valley County Idaho during each year.
