JD Owen

JD Owen has authored a number of successful non-fiction books 'A Dangerous Place to Play' and 'Murder on Stage', The Cathy Wayne story ... about Australian entertainers in Vietnam War and the first Australian Women to have been killed in the Vietnam War.

These books have received rave reviews from notable people in Australia and his works have been referenced in the Australian Media and exhibitions attributed to the Vietnam War.

As a teenager Don Morrisson (aka JD Owen) formed a Rock Group called Xanadu with his sister Claire Morrisson, brother Barrie Morrisson, and teamed up in Sydney with Wayne Anderson and Chris Button (dec). The band was enjoying considerable success along the eastern seaboard & Sydney Australia, playing at pubs and the clubs circuit such as Whiskey a Go Go and then later appearing on Australian Television with Brian Henderson's iconic Bandstand music programme.

In 1971 their Rock Group Xanadu signed up for a three month stint entertaining American and Australian Service personnel fighting in the Republic of South Vietnam (Vietnam War). They spent seven long and dangerous months in the war zone. With no training, it was a matter of 'learn to survive' the oldest in Group was 20, the youngest 16... Xanadu later toured throughout the UK & Europe with greats such as Bee Gees, Leo Sayer, Sex Pistols, Police and have worked with a number of iconic greats, with one of their highlights having received a compliment from George Martin the Producer of the Beatles, when Xanadu covered a Beatles song at a concert in 1978.

JD Owen lives in Brisbane, Queensland Australia, married with 2 beautiful children and expecting their second grandchild in 2016. JD Owen (aka Don Morrisson) is still in the music industry to this day, sharing his passion for writing non-fiction books, and currently writing his next non-fiction title due out in 2016.
