Fan Yang

Fan Yang joined the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in 2011. She is currently Professor in the Department of Media and Communication Studies and Affiliate Faculty in Asian Studies. Her research and teaching interests include cultural studies and globalization, media and communication in modern and contemporary China, urbanism and urban communication, and visual culture. Yang obtained her Ph.D. in Cultural Studies (2011) from George Mason University, where she was the recipient of a High Potential Fellowship. She also holds an MA from the Ohio State University and a BA from Fudan University, Shanghai.
