Vivian McDermott is a native Montanan. She was born in Culbertson, graduated from Conrad High School, and completed her degree in Secondary Education at Montana State University in Bozeman. She and her husband settled in Shelby where they raised all three of their sons.
Vivian has been writing since her Grandma Mazelle first taught her to write letters when she was eight years old. Years later, her friend Sheralynn Ries suggested they write a book together. "The Crone's List" was published n 2015. It is the tale of two sixty-something women who send dating advice to a granddaughter/goddaughter as she starts college.
Writing was so much fun that Vivian went on to write more books.
2015 - "Crazy Quilt Family" - A love story told against the backdrop
of WWII in rural Montana.
2016 - "Adventures of a VIP" - A funny fictionalized account of the author's life as a visually impaired person.
2017 - "Kate's Path" - The saga of a woman who is daughter, wife, widow, friend, and single mother. When her daughter is grown, she decides to bike around Montana while she decides what to do with the rest of her life.
2019 - "Hope for a VIP" - The book she never intended to write is about exploring treatment
options for Retinitis Pigmentosa.
2024 - "The Virus and the VIP" - The effect of a pandemic on a visually impaired person.
