Mona Molarsky

Mona Molarsky is an independent college counselor who steers high school students and their parents through the entire college admissions process. Based in New York City, she serves clients across the nation.

Mona believe there is no secret formula for getting a student into any particular school. Each students needs his or her own strategy. She helps students to identify colleges that are a good fit and to create a carefully planned strategy that will distinguish them from other candidates.

That strategy must be rooted in a student's unique experience and abilities. It should emphasize what he or she can bring to a college besides good grades and test scores. Using this approach, Mona has helped her clients gain admission to some of the nation's best colleges and universities.

After graduating cum laude from Columbia University in 1988, Mona worked as a writer and researcher. Her articles have appeared in The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Nation and other publications. She has written for language arts textbooks that high school students use to develop their reading and writing skills. Her favorite part of college counseling is working one-on-one with students on their essays, helping them to find a voice that will speak persuasively to busy college admissions officers.
