Nancy Ellen Brook

Nancy Ellen Brook was born in Manitoba, Canada, and was privately adopted at only eight days old. She lived in Manitoba until she was twenty-eight, then she moved to Alberta, Canada, to accept a job in television. She’s remained in Alberta and television ever since.

As for her story telling, she started making up stories as a way to entertain the children that she babysat while dreaming of becoming a fighter pilot. But back in the day, the doors to that career were closed to her. So, she decided that being a bush pilot in Northern Canada might be a good alternative. That didn’t ‘fly’ with my mother. “If the good Lord had intended for you to fly, he would have given you wings,” her mother insisted. To please my mother, Brook became an x-ray technician and then a radiotherapy technologist. That made her mom happy—but Brook wasn’t.

Looking for a more creative outlet, she became a writer, producer, and director in television creating documentaries and educational programs. She thought it was exciting and she won awards, but again she felt that something was still lacking in her experiences and she wanted more room to exercise her creative muscles.

Brook finally found the perfect venue for her storytelling and her creative yearnings. Nearly fifteen years after its conception as a potential screenplay, Jessica Seeker and the Ghost Walkers, became Brook’s first novel, but it won’t be her last. She’s presently working on the next Jessica Seeker story.
