Charles Browne

Charles Browne was born in Lambeth Hospital, London in 1966. Aged 9 Charles' family divided and he, his mother and brother moved to a small flat. In his late teens he started hearing voices he didn't tell a soul. When he finally shared his concerns and was prescribed medication, he overdosed and found himself in a psychiatric hospital. Life was never the same again. In 2005 Charles had a serious breakdown and ended up in various hospitals for two years. It was at this time that he started writing poetry. Dark and troubled months ensued but he came out the other side. Charles then became a volunteer at Blackfriars Settlement and part of a poetry group at CoolTan Arts.

His poems bring out his feelings about his life and living in London. In 2014 his collection of poems grew and soon it was time to put Charles's poems into a book so that everyone can read, enjoy and feel his "Inspirational Mind". Charles has written hundreds of poems and his first volume, "Red Sky at Night" was published in 2015.

You will see a variety of themes. Some may take you to a darker place while others will get your mind thinking and even put a smile on your face. Charles Browne is a champion for people with mental health problems and an example to us all. This talented man takes us deep into his mind and lets us share his thoughts.
