Ray Neilson

Ray Neilson grew up in South Australia. At 21 he worked his way on a cargo ship to England and hitch-hiked through Europe. Stuck for a better idea, he carried on to Jerusalem. That went well, so he hitched overland to Afghanistan, finishing up in Sri Lanka.

Many journeys have followed since then. These provided the inspiration for three books: two travel books and one work of fiction, "Eyes of the Jaguar." This adventure story for young people is set in Belize and Guatemala.

"Eyes of the Jaguar" was commended in the prestigious IP Book Awards Competition of 2012.

QUOTE: "Ray Neilson brings the Central American setting to life with authentic details of the land, people and cultures. The prose is clean and the story boasts tense, well-crafted scenes. The unusual plot and vivid setting make 'Eyes of the Jaguar' an intriguing read."
