Jeff Nixa

JEFF NIXA J.D., M.Div. is the founder of Great Plains Guide Company, an array of healing and education programs rooted in the nature-based beliefs and practices of our indigenous ancestors worldwide. He began walking the heart path in 2009 after a life-changing vision quest experience in the wilderness of north Michigan.

A veteran spiritual guide, Jeff studied law in Oregon before working for two-plus decades as a university campus minister, hospital chaplain, pastoral counselor, and massage therapist. After the 2009 quest the threw himself into the study of Indigenous healing practices with C. Michael Smith in Michigan, traditional healers in Peru, Cree Nation elders in Alberta Canada, and Oglala Lakota teachers and spiritual elders on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. He volunteered on Pine Ridge with the Re-Member service organization and Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center. He published The Lost Art of Heart Navigation in 2017, and the novel Something Sacred Grows Here in 2023.

Jeff lives in a small town on the Minnesota prairie with his wife Regina and their five-year-old grandson Troy. He provides Fire Talk counseling sessions both in-person and online.
