E.G. Scott is an early pen-name of Genta Sebastian, who started life as a child and against her own advice swiftly attained her legal majority. Full grown adulting, however, proved to lie just outside her skill set and beyond her ken. Instead, she’s enjoyed being an elementary school teacher, crochet artiste, amateur community theater player, master teacher, criminally wicked cookie baker, professional storyteller, Christmas stocking needle-pointer, an okay parent, cool grandparent, and epic great-grandparent. And along the way she also found time to become a published, award-winning, 'best-selling' author.
Riding the Rainbow, her debut novel, won the 2015 Golden Crown Literary Award for YA Literature. Sebastian, true to form, did not stay in the YA genre lane and began exploring the adventures of romance, spec/science fiction, lesbian erotica, and historical literary fiction. Riding the Rainbow won not only the Goldy, it also won a Rainbow Award the same year. Her latest novel, When Butches Cry, became a finalist in the 2017 GCLS Awards, and one of her short stories helped take home a Lambda award for a collection of lesbian erotica.
Her work has been compared to that of John Steinbeck, Ray Bradbury, and Sue E. Hinton, but her rich, complex characters and delightful plots stand on their own - unique, vibrant, and very much alive in the mind of the reader.
